About
Produced
as part of a Computer Science dissertation, Landscape Studio aims to
give the user far more control over terrain generation. It is Java
based and therefore easily transferable across many platforms. Perhaps
most importantly, it is free.
Features -
- Uses a tabbed workspace, allowing the user to work on several projects at once (ala Firefox's tabbed browsing)
- Terrain Application Mapping: This unique method of generation applies fractal randomness to a pre-designed heightmap based on an application map
- Create your own terrain generation algorithms, importers, exporters and plugins using Java
- Export to several formats including RAW, TER and JPEG, easily load into Terragen and other rendering programs
- Generate terrain using various algorithms including - ridged multifractal, procedural multifractal, heterogeneous multifractal, offset square plasma fractal, hybrid additive/multiplicative multifractal, procedural fBm fractal, deposition fractal, fault fractal and Voronoi
- Multiple filters including various types of erosion, gradients, spatial averaging, midpoint flip and inversion
- Preview terrains in real-time when changing attributes - no more trial and error!
- Preview terrains in 3D
I would like to extend my gratitude to all those who have provided feedback, I very much appreciate you taking the time to both test and comment on this project, it is only with your help that this project can progress to version 0.4 and beyond! Additionally, please visit the Gallery page to view some of the terrains possible with Landscape Studio.
If you wish to assist in the progression of this project, please e-mail any bug reports, suggestions and general feedback. The Landscape Studio e-mail address can be found on the Contact page.
